Custodians of an art-deco treasure

Initially built as a drapers’ store before becoming the Royal Arsenal Cooperative Society’s flagship department store in 1933, Tower House is one of Lewisham’s most iconic buildings, its unmistakable art-deco appearance and quirky transport-themed facades have graced the high street for over 100 years. MHA acquired the building as freehold offices before securing planning permission to transform the second and third floors into 36 apartments under permitted development. Planning permission for an additional 20 apartments has since been achieved and will form phase two of the development.
