The source of Charles Dickens’ most famous literary characters, Berners Street lies at the heart of bustling media-trendy Fitzrovia. MHA acquired number 13, formerly the home of the celebrated Georgian artist Henry Fuseli, gaining a change of use from its status as a freehold commercial building to residential – securing planning for seven apartments on the upper floors.
“Berners Street has a real sense of London history. This scheme, where we retained a flat, is opposite the Sanderson Hotel, the former showroom for Arthur Sanderson and Sons - the fabric and wallpaper makers. It’s also famous for the Berners Street Hoax, which is worth a Google if you’re not familiar with the story.”
